Reynolds Road, previously called Adams Township Stone and Gravel Road No. 10, began as a rural township route in what was once Adams Township, serving 19th-century farms southwest of Toledo.

This post looks at the unimproved portion of Reynolds Road that used to run from Central Avenue to Holland-Sylvania Road before 1930. What I’m calling the Reynolds Road Extension.
In February 1931 the Toledo Blade published a notice that details the Reynolds Road extension and the “vacating of a part of the public road and county highway known as Reynolds Road…commencing from Holland-Sylvania extending southeasterly to Toledo-Angola [Central Avenue]…and also all of a certain county highway connecting Hasty Road No. 44 with Reynolds Road No. 66, all in Sylvania Township, Lucas County, Ohio.”

Reynolds road was rerouted c1929. Portion of old Reynolds Road is still visible in images below.

The railroad bridges (called the “Central Avenue subway”) that crossed Central Avenue were built in 1930/31. These are visible in the 1949 and 1955 images below.
