Opened 1977. Owned by Stanley Ostas (1/1/1935 – 5/28/2021). Previously The Holland House restaurant. Closed 2012.
Continue reading “El Matador, 3309 Holland-Sylvania Rd.”Famous for its takeout shrimp, The Spot was owned by Gilbert and Mayme Turner. Their son Nelson managed the restaurant and bar. The Spot was one of many structures that fell victim to the City of Toledo’s massive urban renewal project on Dorr Street in the mid-1970s. According to an August 30, 2006 article in the Blade, “362 homes and storefronts, two theaters, a bowling alley, and a number of offices were demolished within 2 1/2 years.”
Friendly’s opened in early 1986. Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips (1976) and Godfather’s Pizza (1981) previously did business at this location. Yark Nissan used the building during the 2000’s. Structure was demolished mid-2000’s.
