Founded c1950 by Louis Shiff and son Myer “Mike” Shiff at the former Monroe Auto Parts at 5318 Alexis Road, where White Family Collision Center is now located. Moved to 8061 Sylvania Avenue in 1978. Closed c2010

Supreme Bumpers

420 South 15th Street

Was located on a triangle piece of property on the southern edge of downtown. The stacks of chrome bumpers were visible from I-75 for many years.

Bob’s Auto Parts

7550 Sylvania Avenue

Bob’s Auto Parts was located on the north side of Sylvania Avenue just west of King Road. It was owned and operated by Larry Diller from c1962 to 1999.

Main Auto Parts & Paint

6536 W Central Ave.

“Main,” on Central opened in 1976 and replaced the short lived Westside Auto Parts at the same location. The parts store was located on the north side of Central just past Wilford Drive, at the east end of the West Central Place plaza.

Central Auto Parts, 6007 W. Central Ave.

Operated by Joseph Linver. Owned by Ida and Joseph Linver who owned multiple lots adjacent to this location as well, since approximately 1947. An ad for the business first appears in 1950 and a help wanted ad in 1951.

Forest City Auto Parts, 1907 N. Reynolds Rd.

Opened in the ’80s. Closed in the ’90s. The long neck fellows name is Max. The idea was pitched to the two original brothers that owned the company, Stan and Arn and was inspired by a yellow page ad with the caption “Stop looking, we have what you need!” There were additional Forest City Auto Parts stores in Toledo as well.
