Built in 1915 by the Pioch Company. This school sat on the southwest corner of Central Avenue and Moffat Road. It was the much smaller predeccessor to Central Elementary School which was built on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and King Road (opened in 1929). According to From Footpaths to Expressways (Vol. 8) by local author Gayleen Gindy, the schools first teacher was Irion Jacobs.

Mr. Hasson operated his shop at this location until his retirment. He sold the property in 2012 to Stephen D. Taylor Family Properties. The building was razed c2012. The former barber shop property is now part of the Taylor Hyundai parking lot.
Central Avenue Snip, 6064 W. Central Ave on the northeast corner at Fairbanks. Early ’80s hair salon owned by hair stylists Wes and Lisa Clark. The salon featured a large waterfall in the front. Previously the home of Grover and Mary Houke. Demolished c1995. Small building directly next door was PDQ, a tennis racket shop/store.
Also at this location (late 80s/early 90s) was Love Leasing, First Midwest Leasing, Westwood Auto Leasing and Grogan Used Cars.
