Drug Town
Drug Town opened in 1967 and was owned by Louis Elmer. Elmer’s stores were known for their old-fashioned soda fountains. It was located next to Food Town (west end of the building) in the same shopping plaza. Drug Town later became Lane’s Drug Store, then Peoples Drug Store and then Rite Aid (1989). In some of the images below the former drug store location later became Big Lots Furniture.

In front of Food Town (3948 W. Alexis), before CVS, there was this gas station.
