Joseph’s, 1420 Secor Rd.

c1955. Shows the south end of Joseph’s with entrance off of Dorr Street.

Joseph’s opened in 1953 and was located on the northeast corner of Dorr Street and Secor Road. Other buildings were added to the property and these were eventually all connected, creating what was called both Dorr-Secor Plaza and Joseph’s Plaza. The property was eventually purchased by the University of Toledo and became the Southwest Academic Center (SWAC), later renamed Rocket Hall.

“In a separate project, the former Food Town grocery store is to be renovated for the new Savage and Associates Center for Advanced Sales and Marketing.”

It appears the Savage and Associates Center plan didn’t happen. Aerial images show that by 2001 the former Food Town, and the addition (noted above) that once connected Joseph’s to Arlan’s, was gone.
